We're Off the Ground!

After many years of operating independently, with little or no support or recognition from the larger tennis organizations, high school tennis and its coaches now have a place to go where they are the number one priority.

The initial wave of registrations for the USHSTCA has come and gone with more than 100 coaches signing on during our first month; from here on out, it will be a growing process as you, the membership, tell other coaches about the organization during your matches.

The more members we have, the more benefits and services we can offer, and at a lower cost.

One of your main benefits is High School Tennis Coach magazine, which will contain many articles with information you won't see anywhere else in the U.S. Our article on Practicing Shot Combinations, for example, was developed from lectures given by a top representative of the German Tennis Federation, and offers practical suggestions for realistic practice methods.

Our next step in the development of the organization is to put together workshops for this summer, and using the data culled from the registration forms and an upcoming survey of the members, we'll develop them and announce when and where the first workshops will be held.

If you would like to help organize a workshop in your area, please contact USHSTCA headquarters.

Speaking of the registration form all of you submitted with your membership, here are some of the findings from our recently developed member demographics...

-- We have members in 37 states

-- USHSTCA members coach more than 3,300 players

-- 86% coach at public schools

-- 14% coach at private schools

-- 60% are members of the USTA

-- 10% are members of the USPTA

-- 6% are members of the USPTR

-- 3% are members of the NTA and ITA

Thanks for your support and watch as the association grows!
