Director's Letter
In this issue of High School Tennis Coach, we look at strategies for shorter players -- specifically two strategies developed by Dennis Van der Meer for Amanda Coetzer, which helped the shortest player on the tour become one the game's top players.
We also look at how different racquets affect the play of different styles and sizes of players, and tell you how to match the right frame with the right player.
We also dispel some of the myths associated with the follow-through and what the real purpose of this part of the kinetic chain is.
Some news regarding the association is that we hope to add coach of the year awards at the state and national level in 2001. To help facilitate this, we are making a call for state representatives for the USHSTCA to help develop and judge these awards, which will recognize a boys and girls coach from each state, as well as two national coach of the year honorees.
We hope you have an enjoyable holiday season and should have some news about our first coaches workshop in January.
Enjoy this issue.
