First USHSTCA State Representatives Named
In order to better serve high school coaches, the USHSTCA would like to name state representatives to the association.
If more than one nomination is received for a particular state, the coach with the most number of years coaching may be selected as that state's representative for 2001, with others serving on the state's advisory committee.
We are a small association and all volunteers are welcome. Requirements to be a state rep are as follows:
#1 Inform the USHSTCA about your state's rules regarding high school tennis. This could be as simple as pointing us to your state high school athletic association's Web site so we can provide a link to that site.
#2 Let us know if you have a state high school tennis association and how to contact them.
#3 Agree to review criteria for developing a "High School Tennis Coach of the Year" award, and review nominations for your state's, and the national, "Coach of the Year."
#4 Agree to take an e-mail or call from a new coach in your state who might have a question.
That's it! For the first year, we are simply looking to provide coaches with some information on their state's rules, coaching organizations and opportunities to be recognized as a "Coach of the Year."
Qualifications
#1 Must be a paid member of the USHSTCA.
#2 Preference will be given to coaches with a higher number of years coaching. Anyone who applies but is not named this year's state rep will be asked to serve as a state advisory member and serve on the "Coach of the Year" nominating and review committee for his or her state.
The following coaches have agreed to serve as the state reps for 2001.
Maryland
-- Preston Jackson, Jr., Baltimore Polytechnic Institute
Nebraska -- Jeff Hoham, Lincoln East High School
New York -- John Beatty, Lockport High School
