A
Magazine You Can Trust
Welcome to the premier issue of High School Tennis Coach© e-zine, the only magazine published specifically for high school tennis coaches.
Each month, you'll find articles specific to the task of coaching high school tennis players.
Topics relating to tennis will include drills, conditioning, strategies and tactics, strokes, practice plans, nutrition, sport psychology and more. In addition, topics covering a variety of issues facing high school coaches such as administration, liability, fundraising and commercial programs will also be covered.
In short, HSTC will be the most authoritative source of information of high school tennis coaches anywhere.
One of the main benefits of High School Tennis Coach is that, unlike most other tennis publications, the USHSTCA will not allow teaching pros or former touring pros who have no formal background in physical education or any of the sport sciences to write articles unless they are rigorously checked for factual accuracy.
As a professional journalist who has worked with virtually all of the top tennis researchers worldwide, I can tell you that with the notable exception of materials published by the USTA Sport Science Committee and Player Development Program, much, if not most of the teaching and coaching information you read in American tennis magazines is factually in error and does more harm than good.
While no magazine can promise it will never make a mistake, High School Tennis Coach will practice responsible journalism and provide articles that are based on sound physical education principles and with content verified with experts in those fields. Most of the articles will be generated by the USHSTCA using interviews with sport scientists and credible coaches.
Any time we are contacted by a reader who has found what he or she believes to be an error, we will contact an expert in that field and print an update of the article if necessary.
We hope that you enjoy this and future issues of High School Tennis Coach and we're glad to be able to provide you with information that you will be able to use with confidence in your coaching and teaching of young athletes.
