Executive Director's Letter

Dear Coach,

Most of you who are coaching this fall are far enough into your seasons that it's too late to be working on any significant mechanical changes in your players' games.

You can still be working on tactics, such as the approach shot, however, and this issue of High School Tennis Coach provides information on teaching teaching your players work through the mid-court, whether in singles or doubles.

Our article on the tactical advantages of the first serve will help your players improve that area of their game without requiring a stroke change.

And our piece on generating more pace on your shots with less effort provides some mechanical tips that won't require a complete re-learning of any stroke.

We're including our first coaches survey in this issue, as well, to begin gathering information from high school coaches which can be used for providing better information in our magazine, and eventually workshops, as well as better profile of the high school tennis coach and his or her program, to demonstrate to the industry just how important you all are.

Please take a moment to fill out the few questions on the survey, and as always, continued good luck with your seasons.
